On the north side of the Tanaro river, Nebbiolo vines produce a widely acclaimed and prestigious wine called ‘Roero’. The Nebbiolo vines thrive on the sandy, south-facing hillsides which line the Tanaro.
Roero is a fragrant, elegant and generous wine with an intensely inviting ruby red colour. This Roero wine is dry, warm, and ample with a subtle peach and raspberry scent. The restrained tannins and velvety flavour of this wine make it the perfect accompaniment to a wide range of dishes, including rich, buttery fish, like sablefish.
Nebbiolo - Believed to have been cultivated in the Langhe district before the 14th century. Nebbiolo is notoriously difficult to grow and make into fine wine outside of Piemonte region. The wines, Barolo & Barbaresco tend to be the most in need of aging, other wines made in the modernist style are becoming more approachable at a young age.
